SG: My band is Sierra Greene and the Soul Machine. We were on Frenchmen before covid—seven years long. I developed the name of “Queen of Frenchmen Street” with a seven-piece band. A lot of fond memories of great shows every night. I just love the stage life, and feeding off the energy from the crowds.
I’d say the best night would be Cedric the Entertainer—I went to a comedy show one night before gig with a best friend, and we were going to see all the great kings of comics, and Cedric the Entertainer was there. I was just messing with my friend like, “Wouldn’t it be cool, girl, if they come downtown to our show after the gig?” and whatever. Not thinking, you know, I’m manifesting.
Girl, I’m singing onstage when Cedric the Entertainer walks in with two all-stars. And they sit down and get a table, and they record us and post us and all that good stuff, and I got to meet them! So that was a favorite night for me ‘cause I was like, damn! I manifested that. That was about two years ago at the Maison.
