5\/29\/26 Frenchmen at 50, looking ahead!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In 2027 and 2028 we will be engaging in a series of presentations, writings and panels to mark 50 years since the first modern venue, The Dream Palace, opened on Frenchmen Street in January of 1977. We are THRILLED to announce the kickoff event of Frenchmen at 50: our panel titled On Record: Documenting the History of Local Music Scenes, has been accepted to the American Historical Association conference to be held in New Orleans in January of 2027, and we will also be leading a walking tour of Frenchmen for conference attendees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4\/25\/2026 New Interviews<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to the Threadhead Grant, we’ve so far this year published four full-length interviews from our backlog: Amasa Miller, Sierra Green, Jeff Treffinger, and Charmaine Neville. Plenty more to come!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1\/9\/2026: Threadhead Grant!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In December 2025 we were thrilled to be a recipient of a Threadhead Grant to support our 2026 work. Huge thanks to the Threadhead Foundation<\/a>; we are delighted to be among the cultural projects supported by this wonderful local organization this year! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

12\/15\/2025<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We published new interviews from our backlog — Boyanna Trayanova<\/a>, Nita Ketner<\/a> and Davis Rogan<\/a>! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

8\/15\/2025: Expanding our team:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A long-overdue introduction to some wonderful partners we’ve been working with. In 2023 Hannah and Laura joined forces with public digital historian Jessica Dauterive, http:\/\/www.jessicadoeshistory.com<\/a>, who shepherded us into academic spaces and brought this website under the Midlo Center<\/a> at UNO. For our first academic conference panel, the Organization of American Historians in April of 2024, we invited multidisciplinary artist and cultural studies scholar Denise Frazier, http:\/\/www.denisetatumfrazier.com<\/a>, to be the moderator for our panel, and she has been a team member ever since.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4\/1\/2025: Ongoing work!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We are always processing and releasing our back catalogue of interviews. Huge thanks to all the folks who have helped with this work! You can support us through MaCCNO’s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most recently-published one was the Langhoffs<\/a>, who founded the Dream Palace in 1976, starting the modern Frenchmen era. Look for these interviews to come!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
